Planning a wedding in Virginia (or anywhere else, for that matter) can be a confusing task. With so many rules to follow and so many ideas out there, it can be hard to stick to your budget (and to your particular wedding style, in the end).
What are the elements that aren’t that essential when planning a wedding? We have some tips for you – so read on and find out more.
- DIY wedding décor. This may come as a surprise for you, but DIY wedding décor doesn’t come cheap. Not only does it require a lot of time to be pulled off, but it can also end up costing you a lot more. If you have the money and if you’re very good with crafts, it may make sense to DIY when it comes to one or two elements – but going the DIY route for everything is not a financially great decision.
- Welcome bags. OK, welcome bags for your out of town guests are nice. They show people you care about them and their effort to come to your wedding. However, this is not necessarily something anyone expects you to splurge on. It can be something small, like a card and a local product, or it can be nothing at all – this is entirely your choice.
- An actual wedding theme. Again, this is nice to have, but not absolutely crucial. With attention to detail you can create a coherent wedding décor without a wedding theme too. The more specific your wedding theme is, the more likely it is that you will spend more on pretty much everything, from the centerpiece vases to your shoes.
- Day-of stationery. Same as welcome bags and a wedding theme, day-of stationery is only essential up to a point (more specifically, the place cards, which can be totally simple and budget-friendly, by the way). Other than that, wedding menus, wedding programs, and other types of day-of stationery can be ditched from the planning altogether – nobody pays that much attention to these things anyway, so why not save some money?
